It can be difficult to know if your child is safe online, especially since they seem to spend most of their time on their phones these days. The internet is vast, and most parental controls can only go so far, particularly with how tech savvy our young ones can be.
But there are certain things parents can do to ensure their kids are keeping safe online, and Samsung recently shared some simple tips and tricks to give parents the peace of mind that their wee ones are protected online.
Deborah Honig, Chief Customer Officer for Samsung UK, told Hello Magazine: “We’re working hard to put out the most accessible resources to empower parents, teachers and kids to have conversations about what’s happening online and how to deal with it.
“The future of online safety should be everyone coming together to work towards a common goal of keeping young people safe online.
"As a parent with a young child, my priority is their safety, both off and online. I want to help educate my child and give them a safe space to learn when accessing new technologies.”
Samsung has shared certain features on their company's phones that can ensure your child stays as safe as possible online. Here are their online safety tips.
Five tips for staying safe online that parents should know

1. Give children a safe and fun online environment with ‘Samsung Kids’
Samsung Kids is pre-installed on Samsung phones, for parents who share their device with their wee ones.
Parents can set up a PIN and use parental controls to protect their children from unsuitable apps and websites.
You can also control their playtime and limit their accessibility.
Children can also have fun with the cute Samsung Kids friends and child-friendly features.
2. Use ‘Galaxy for Families’ to keep children and teens safe
Galaxy for Families allows parents to monitor usage and set proper boundaries across the family’s devices, when it's time to give your kids their own phone.
Parents can set up a Samsung Child Account to manage website access through Samsung Internet, and to set limits on apps and games.
Purchase restrictions can also be put in place through the Galaxy Store, and parents can enable Samsung Find for location sharing.
You can also set up a shared photo album with restrictions on who can view, edit and contribute to it.
Galaxy for Families also helps parents manage Google Family Link and set boundaries across Google apps.
3. Look at the Galaxy smartphone and device features

Parents can access Browser History and block Secret Mode on Samsung Internet, set in-app purchase restrictions on the Galaxy Store and set call and text filters on Samsung devices.
Samsung's Privacy Dashboard also provides an overview of their child’s device permissions for camera, microphone and location over the last 24 hours or in the last week.
Samsung's Secure Folder feature also keeps personal files away from children.
Samsung Find and SOS Messages mean children’s locations can be tracked and, if they feel unsafe or uncomfortable, they can quickly send messages asking for help.
