Hi everyone, due to recent discussions surrounding the idea of "Comeback Corner" and the discrepancies between general discussion threads and album specific threads, we as the moderation team have talked about what could be an ideal way going forward to avoid future problems, and that is outlined here below;
- having one forum (aka the Pop & Justice forum) dedicated to these only: current artist's album campaigns (including greatest hits campaigns!), active acts, and those that are touring.
- what is currently "Comeback Corner" being specifically for: general discussion threads for artists (for example, "Beyoncé - General Discussion" would be in Comeback Corner, whilst her current thread for RENAISSANCE fits in Pop & Justice).
- where there are acts who only have one thread to cover both general discussion and the current album era, these will stay in P&J.
None of the current moderators have the ability to change the title from Comeback Corner to, say, "General Discussions", so to avoid confusion hopefully reading this sticky will help make more sense about what we're trying to achieve here.
Please PM any of the active moderators for questions, and report a thread if you believe it may be misplaced. Thank you!

I just have one question, which I figure is worth posting here since I imagine others might like to know too - where does this change leave artists who only have one main thread where any new releases are discussed, rather than separate threads for general discussion and their current era?

Would it also be possible to get some consistency around renaming threads? E.g. I don't really understand renaming a 700 page general discussion thread (obviously talking about Rihanna here) to become the Super Bowl thread when a) most of those 700 pages have nothing to do with the Super Bowl and b) general discussion and one huge event/a tour are separate things?
I'm also almost sure that previous Super Bowl half time shows had their own threads in the past.
This is the most recent example but I've seen it happen with a Little Mix thread too, where a long album discussion thread gets renamed for a new era. Whereas other artists have separate threads for every campaign, tour etc.
Maybe I'm just pedantic but some of the thread decisions just don't always seem to make sense.

Agreed. What we’ve tried to do in the past is to split out some of these into a new thread where possible, but sometimes the new discussion topic moves along so quickly that it becomes an enormous task to split out the new discussion (case in point: the Steps thread) because the forum only lets you select one page at a time and you can only move 20 pages at once.
In the 700-page example you gave, the thread title should really have “+ General Discussion” after it, but hopefully this change will encourage more people to start new threads in P&J for new albums and tours rather than carrying on the General Discussion thread in Comeback Corner.

I like this, definitely a neat idea.
Jesy Nelson still being in 'Pop & Justice' is a scream though.

I think it’s best to understand that even under how things were done before, there were always unique cases that had their own circumstances. The Rihana thread for example had discussion around the Super Bowl, and then a separate thread. As @londonrain said, discussion had moved so quickly in both that I and another moderator decided to merge the two. This is of course, a special instance, but with each artist and their current career trajectory, there may arise future situations that don’t always fit these guidelines perfectly. That’s why we included the option of PMing or reporting a thread should you feel different reasoning should be considered for a thread’s placement. We as mods generally take these into consideration and discuss, so please communicate any suggestions or concerns for us to review.

Under these guidelines, it would make sense to send “What’s That Song” to Lists, Charts, and Rates, no? It’s more in line with something like Random Pop Thoughts than Bjork - Fossora or Beyoncé - Renaissance.
Obviously, just a suggestion of something that occurred to me, and would seem to be consistent with the current thinking.

Not really? A thread where people ask for help identifying songs doesn't really have much to do with what goes on in that sub-forum, and I think it makes more sense for it to be in the most active part of the forum, same as the New Music Friday finds thread for instance. Also that sub-forum already has a lot of stickied threads, it doesn't need another one ff

New Music Friday deals with current releases and new campaigns, it makes sense in Pop & Justice. The last post in What’s That Song was on September 3, and often deals with older or more obscure songs. It’s less active than a lot of threads in Comeback Corner (both the older version and the newly designed version with these guidelines) or Charts and Rates.
It’s just a suggestion!

You should also add, "do not speak negatively about any artist, regardless of factual information or opinions. If you do, you will be banned." What happened to this site!?!?

Apart from facts and opinions, what is left that is worth protecting? Libel?

I don't think anyone actually got banned, it was just a poster going around making controversial/flamebait-y posts on like ten different threads one after the other a while back, which, as would be expected, resulted in some people getting annoyed/calling them out.
